Activities

We enthusiastically support a robust activities program in an inclusive atmosphere to keep our residents engaged. Residents participate in a wide variety of activities off campus, such as trips to the State Theater, local museums, malls and restaurants. Each floor within Senior Living has a comfortable, well-decorated common lounge where residents regularly gather to chat with friends and neighbors, enjoy large screen television, radio, cards, games, and other activities. Abington Manor at Morgan Hill also has a library area with books, magazines, and computer stations with internet access. Structured activities programs are held in both activities rooms and lounges.

We publish a monthly activities calendar to inform families and residents about upcoming events. The activities program is based upon a foundation of wellness comprised of physical, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional components. We start each day with physical exercise followed by intellectual discussion, and various other activities such as book discussions, arts and crafts, gardening, educational seminars, professional entertainment , spiritual groups and community trips. Additionally, we celebrate our residents' birthdays and other holidays with fun, festive enthusiasm.

Memory Care Village activities staff is certified and trained in the Music and Memory program. Music is deeply rooted in our conscious and unconscious brains. It becomes even more important if the functioning of the brain is deteriorating, as occurs in dementia, and Alzheimer’s. Upon admission we develop a playlist of favorite tunes for each resident. The music helps to stimulate memory and elevate moods.
